Understanding the ever-evolving audience means that we can further enhance our visitors’ experience at SGPFair.

This year, in line with the pursuit of personalised handmade aesthetics, we invite local artists to share their knowledge and expertise on such crafts. 


DAY 1: 26 JULY 2017 (WEDNESDAY)

Leather Crafting
Ursa

Various processes of the creation of a leather product will be exhibited ‘live’. From its conception and design to working with actual materials, viewers can see and envision possibilities of customising products for their needs, no matter how specific or diverse.

Floral Arrangement
Daisies Field

During the demonstration session, audience members will be introduced to preserved flowers. They will be able to see techniques of putting various kinds of flowers like roses, hydrangeas and foliage into a beautiful arrangement without using water. Preserved flower arrangement is just like an art and craft session, therapeutic and fun!

Pouch and Porcelain Cup Painting
Jessie Lau

In this session, Jessie shares her skills of making expressive handmade art with everyday items.

 4.05PM – 4.50PM

Rubber Stamp Carving
Drool Stamps

Visitors will be able to peek into the process of what goes behind crafting a handmade stamp, using the Japanese rubber stamp carving method, unique and different from other print-making techniques.

Letterpress Demonstration
The Gentlemen’s Press

During the demonstration, visitors will discover how typesetting is done on a 5 x 3″ letterpress machine – setting the types, inking the press and understanding how cards are being printed on the press machine.
Visitors are welcome to try out the printing process and bring home the cards that they have printed on-site.

In this 20-minute demonstration, Jiahui will show you the basics of carving a personalised rubber stamp. Visitors will also learn printing tips and ideas on using stamps to create creative gift wraps, notebook covers and fabric patterns.

 3.40PM – 4.25PM

Gift Wrapping
Gift Elements

Gift Elements will be demonstrating basic techniques to wrap and decorate gifts beautifully:

  • Learn how to make Japanese pleats easily and present them in 2 ways.
  • Learn how to make a gift bag
  • Learn how to wrap a bottle creatively
  • Learn how to wrap a circular shape (if time permits)
